Where to Set up a Tea and Coffee Bar
The first thing to do is to decide where you want your drink station!

I wanted to create a dedicated space for tea and coffee essentials on our kitchen counter. But you could also use a bar cart or console table in your living room. Here are some options if you need a piece of furniture to get started:
Another great place for a tea and coffee area would be a dining room! This would be so nice for after dinner coffee and tea for guests (or just a fancy dinner at home).
My goal was to create the cozy coffee shop vibe using the small counter space next to our refrigerator. There is an easy access outlet here for our tea kettle, and just enough space for tea and coffee storage. I love making small spaces feel cozy and intentional, and this coffee and tea nook is my new favorite area of our kitchen!
Coffee Maker and/or Electric Tea Kettle
One of the most important elements of a tea and coffee bar is space for your coffee machine, tea kettle, or espresso machine. Be sure to have an outlet nearby to plug in appliances!

This area next to our fridge was the perfect spot for our tea station. My husband and I are tea lovers, and unable to drink coffee for health reasons, so we only need our electric kettle on a daily basis.
We’ve been using this Haden electric kettle for six months and it’s an excellent choice if you want something with a large capacity and a thermometer display! It does not have temperature settings, but you can manually stop the kettle at your desired water temperature. (Here is another kettle option that allows you to choose a temperature.)
We also have this slim Keurig coffee maker which is great for when family members or friends are visiting. I usually store it in a lower cabinet when we aren’t using it to keep the kitchen counter relatively clear.
Here are some more tea kettles and coffee makers to choose from!
Glass Canisters for a Tea and Coffee Bar
Another tea and coffee station idea: use matching glass jars for easy access drinks.

I chose these glass canisters with bamboo lids for our tea station. They are a great way to store matcha powder, hot chocolate, coffee beans, loose tea, and single serve drink packets. And, the lids have a rubber gasket so they are airtight. Another option would be to use mason jars if you have them on hand.
Next, I ordered these bamboo shelves for our countertop. The fluted acrylic and gold hardware are so cute! If you need taller shelves, check out these ones. Or, browse more options below:

We are always making tea in our house, so it’s been really great to have some of our favorite drink mixes out on the counter. They don’t take up much room and I think they look nice too.
Organized Coffee Mugs and Tea Cups
If you are a tea or coffee lover, you probably have a collection of favorite mugs. Here are some ideas for how to store mugs and tea cups!

First, I recently installed peel and stick wallpaper inside this cabinet! In the post I share tips for installing wallpaper, as well as lots of pretty wallpaper options.
Secondly, I wanted think of a better way to arrange our mugs and glasses that would optimize the vertical space. An easy way to create plenty of storage space in upper cabinets is by adding risers. I simply shifted the existing kitchen cupboard shelves up and inserted these wooden shelves at the bottom!
Not only are they practical, but the bamboo coordinates with the shelves on the counter. Here are some more great finds for kitchen cabinet shelves:
With this mug cabinet layout, the top shelf is a little hard for me to reach, but I just use it for off season mugs that I swap out a few times a year. So overall, I can reach more items this way and we have additional storage that we didn’t have before.
If your tea and coffee station is somewhere other than a kitchen counter, you can use a mug rack or open shelving to display drinkware instead. This wooden shelf with cubbies would be perfect for tea cups, or try wooden open shelves.

Organized Storage for Tea Bags
In addition to the glass jars I shared above, I wanted to have storage for variety of teas in tea bags.

A few weeks ago I spent a little time rearranging things to create the perfect tea drawer! We have had these drawer organizers for years (these are similar) and they are great for our favorite tea bags. The drawer also has extra storage space for loose leaf teas and herbal tea sachets. (If you have any favorite teas that you don’t see here, please leave me a comment at the bottom of this post so we can try them!)
If you are looking for perfect coffee bar ideas, try a drawer insert designed for coffee pods instead! Here are organizers that are designed for Keurig cups or Nespresso pods. More options below:
Other Tea and Coffee Necessities
Finally, here are some other tea and coffee accessories to include in your drink station.

On top of tea shelves, we have a scalloped spoon rest to corral the measuring spoons we use all of the time. I also decided to get an extra set of measuring spoons in addition to the ones we use for cooking, since we were washing them so often!
Not pictured: Our favorite little milk frother for hot chocolate and matcha drinks. My kids love this for hot cocoa!
Finally, coffee lovers may like to have flavored syrups or mixing spoons on display. Here are some pretty glass jars for syrups and gold coffee spoons.
Tea and Coffee Bar Ideas: Conclusion
This little nook for making tea has brought me a lot of joy lately. I like creating small habits or rituals to look forward to throughout the day. Whether it’s pairing an audiobook with exercise, or a cute tea station for mixing matcha, the little things make a big difference for me.
