There's no shortage of trendy bars and restaurants in Shoreditch, but it's stillpretty exciting when a new one hits the scene. I'd heard goodthings about stylish hotel One Hundred Shoreditch, so when theyreveled their brand new rooftop venue Kaso, complete with a leafyterrace?I was quick off the mark to secure myself a bookingat this sun-soaked spot, inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean heritageof Chef IlknurCelik.

We were whisked up to the 7th floor and immediately met with alively space filled with plants, pale pink tiles and natural light,giving in a garden-like feeling that screamed summer. Luckily theweather was playing ball on this day, so we opted for a table ontheir outdoor terrace, overlooking the streets of Shoreditch below.And as we'd arrived at 7pm, we were in the perfect position towatch the sun setting behind London's skyscrapers. You'll also findDJs here from 9pm every Friday and Saturday, but we decided to getthere slightly earlier for a more chilled experience.
After trying and failing to capture a picture that did the viewsjustice, we were ready to enjoy some co*cktails. My choice was theSundown Date (£12): a sugary mix of pineapplehoney liqueur and date syrup, topped off with a slice of driedpineapple to add to the vivid yellow concoction. This sweet, fruityblend was a strong start to the meal, though I'm not sure Icould've drank more than one as it was quite the sugar hit. Mydinner date went for a Kaiki (£12) instead, anequally fruit-forward blend of honeydew melon, Ouzo and lemonade,which had a slightly aniseed-like taste to it from the Greekspirit.

We were advised to order three small plates per person, and thatturned out to be just the right amount. The Kaso One HundredShoreditch menu is split into three sections: cold mezze, hot mezzeand specials, and we picked dishes from across all of them. Firstto arrive was the hummus (£6), which we pairedwith a portion of flatbread (£3). The dip wassmooth and nutty tasting, with a pool of chilli oil in the centre.The bread was soft and flaky, perfect for scooping up big chunks ofhummus, though if you order more than one dip I'd definitely advisedoubling up on the flatbread, as we quickly demolished it.
Next up were the hot dishes, the first of which was a plate ofroasted peppers (£11), dripping in olive oil andpaired with a creamy yoghurt sauce. There was a mix of Padronpeppers coated in a dusting of parmesan, and soft, flavourful redpeppers that worked beautifully with the mild, tangy sauce. Thisarrived alongside the feta cheese borek(£14)that we both agreed was our favourite dish ofthe night. This crumbly pie was made with layers of thin, crispyfilo pastry, with generous helpings of rich feta between them,sprinkled with pine nuts and sprigs of mint throughout - adelicious combination.

Last but not least, we sampled two plates from the specialssection. The harissa chicken (£18) had a mildspice to it, cut into tender, bitesize pieces and served on a bedof fresh salad. Our second pick was the roasted aubergine(£16), cooked to perfection with a melt-in-the-mouthtexture to it, though we weren't as big a fan of the zhoug andtahini sauce combination on top.
Firmly addicted to the views and summer vibes at this point, wecouldn't leave without another drink. I chose a simple glass ofGreek Gaia rosé (£9), which was a happy mediumbetween sweet and dry, while my partner decided on anotherco*cktail. His pick was the Kasonist (£12),combining watermelon Grey Goose with sweet Greek wine to make asweet, baby pink concoction.
Kaso Bar & Kitchen: Overall
Kaso London is an impressive newcomer on the crowded rooftopscene, and their gorgeous terrace is the perfect place to spend asummer's evening. It has a trendy, Instagrammable vibe to itwithout feeling like its trying too hard, and the views speak forthemselves. I'd definitely recommend ordering three plates perperson, and the feta borek deserves a special mention. So if youlike alfresco Mediterranean eats, signature co*cktails and sunsets,be sure to add the One Hundred Shoreditch rooftop to your list.
